Yakovenko’s slam-dunk show

Russian bigman scored 23 points, including 18 in second half, against Triumph.

In VTB United League Nizhny Novgorod hosted the game against its rival for the play-off berth Triumph Lubertzy. Artem Yakovenko played in the starting five and he was the first to score in this game with a free throw on the first minute.

But it was the second half when Yakovenko put a real performance. In the middle of the 3rd quarter he showed offensive diversity in two consecutive attacks hitting three-pointer and the slam-dunk. And in the very end of this quarter he scored again with a foul on his shoulders.

10 points was the deficit which Nizhny Novgorod had to eliminate in the last 10 minutes and due to Yakovenko’s impressive game they came as close as 4 points. On the last two minutes Artem blocked shot and scored 4 points. But Triumph still claimed the win 80-76.  

Artem Yakovenko had 23 points in this game and was the best scorer of the night. He also collected 5 rebounds (4 of them were offensive) and 3 assists.
