Yakovenko gets better in Niznhy Novgorod

Yakovenko gets better in Niznhy Novgorod After his return BC NN won 4 straight games.

On the last days of 2012 Spartak St. Petesrburg loaned its center Artem Yakovenko to BC Nizhny Novgorod, the team where he already successfully played earlier. And in the first games for his old new club we saw Yakovenko as he used to be. Leading partners and scoring himself. And the big part of it surely was coach’s trust. Zoran Lukic immediately placed Artem in the starting five. Just a week after he came back to the club Yakovenko had great game against Czech’s Nymburk in VTB United League, leading both teams in efficiency (20) and stopping one rebound shy of double-double (12 points and 9 boards). It helped BC NN to win important match for the play-off chances.

Also in January Artem looked very well against Russian teams Spartak-Primorye and Enisey. He collected 11+7 rebounds and then 10+6 rebounds.

Yakovenko’s return to form was noticed by Russian national team’s authorities who named him to the 18-men preseason squad.
