Yakovenko goes to St. Petersburg
Russian Olympics hopeful signed with Spartak for two years.Artem Yakovenko's transfer to Spartak St.Petersburg officialy confirmed. Last season his new club was 6th in PBL, 4th in Eurocup, made qurterfinals of VTB United League. Artem himself played in BC Nizhniy Novgorod and UNICS in 2011-2012. In PBL he averaged 6.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.6 blocked shots in 19 games.
Currently Yakovenko with Russian national team is on training camp in USA and prepares for Olymics qualifiers in Venezuela.
In his first interview after signing with Spartak Artem Yakovenko explained why he choose St. Petersburg team. 'I think this is optimal option for me. I am satisfied with my role in the team, what coach and manager said about it. I can play both on PF and Center positions and am cofident that I will have more playing time. Moreover, Spartak will play in Eurocup', said Yakovenko.
