UNICS’ double impact

Both Veremeenko and Yakovenko made a double-double against Lokomotiv.

On the last day of the PBL regular season UNICS destroyed Lokomotiv-Kuban 101:75. For the first time this year Kazan club scored more than 100 points in a game. Vladimir Veremeenko showed spectacular game. He scored 17 points and got 4 rebounds in first 10 minutes and brought his team 15-points advantage in first quarter. His total stats are 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Also he had drawn 6 fouls from Loko players. But the most expressive characteristic of Vladimir’s game was his perfect goal percentage. He shot 9 of 9 from the field (including 4 slam-dunks) and 5 of 5 free throws. UNICS leader set the record with 40 points in rating performance. Veremeenko ended the regular season as team’s second best in rating (12.8 per game) and drawn fouls and leader in rebounding (6.1 rpg) and double-doubles (3 overall).

Just like Veremeenko another UNICS big man Artem Yakovenko made a double-double against Loko. He collected 15 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in 25 minutes. Yakovenko is in the top-10 of best blockers in PBL.

In Lokomotiv-Kuban Artem Zabelin was the best defensive player. He collected 3 points, 9 rebounds and 1 block-shot.

This win placed UNICS sixth in regular season. In play-offs for 5th place UNICS will play against Spartak-Primorye. Lokomotiv-Kuban will fight for medals with CSKA.
